Your Mail Week Of 09/02/07

I apologize for my absence again. I've been busy pulling my hair out trying to deal with insurance for the storm damage to the house. Luckily it appears that I've finally reached a resolution and settlement with the insurance company so I can actually make a little time again in my hectic life to post here.

Of course as I've promised I would get to your emails once a week to let you have your say, ask me questions, rant about how much you hate my guts, etc. It's been a pretty big hit as traffic has picked up here. I would like to thank Lorrie in Alabama and Jasel for you contributing story links for me to cover. I will get to those as soon as I can. That is a promise.

Is that how you treat other people who differ in your opinion, by just slamming them with personal insults? I also see that you are getting involved with an online group who helped censor a bunch of people's journals at livejournal.com. Figures, the only freedom you look out for is your own. -Manthong

Now look Manthong. I was only replying to your question about me reading minds. Of course I can read minds. I am the smartest telepathic blogger on the face of the Earth. As for the livejournal incident which I didn't even become aware of until recently, livejournal did not have to take down those pages. The choice of termination was made at the leisure of livejournal and not by Warriors For Innocence and they screwed up big time. All Warriors For Innocence did was pressure livejournal into getting rid of pedophile rings forming in their provider. Instead of spending the time and targeting these rings themselves they simply just went berserk and deleted anything with any reference to rape, which would definitely include support groups for rape victims. This, Manthong, is not my problem nor my responsibility. So put the blame where it belongs.

Hey Joe I know you've heard about this school that is going up in NYC that's got all these imams on the boards directing the curriculum. I'm absoultely outraged as a New Yorker that my tax dollars are going to fund this place which could probably be a terrorist breeding ground. I'm just curious to see if you would investigate into it a little bit. Keep up the hard work, I love reading your site. -Roy in NY

Hey Roy! I haven't heard from you in a while. I hope all is well with you and yours. I have been so busy that I haven't had a chance to get in depth with this madressa opening up. I will tell you all what. This is a very scary thing going on and I don't think that anyone is paying enough attention to it at all. First off where are the advocates for separation of church and state on this issue and second off why are they hiding their curriculum? I for one would be absolutely enraged if I was told by a public school that I am paying for though my tax dollars, that I have no right to see their curriculum. Raise some hell buddy, that is all I can say.

Wow. I don't know which to be more shocked by? The fact that you are still angry over me refusing to be censored in my post from almost a year ago or the fact that you are accusing me of using slurs against homosexuals. I personally take extreme offense to having words placed in my mouth, and I definitely know for a fact that I have never used slurs against homosexuals on my site. You should back off the slander wagon.

I've voted for Democrats in local elections but at a state and national level I've never found a democrat that I trusted. For the record I used to be a liberal. My whole feelings for the Democrat party changed in the aftermath of 9-11, when I heard people like Al Gore's reactions to the situation. The absolute idiocy of that party after the attacks on this country and their total buckling in the face of danger totally turned me off in every way possible. I could not believe that the party which I thought was flawless was actually doing everything they could to blame us for the attack. Since then I've been finding myself moving further to the right, and I totally regret the blurry eyed ignorance I used to have.

What libertarian philosophies do you agree with? -JJ

I am libertarian to the extent that I believe that what one in the privacy of their own home should not be the business of the federal government if it's not violating the safety or rights of others. I worry that the government spends to much time encouraging control and regulation instead of forcing responsibility. I also worry very little about gay marriage and social issues regarding the lifestyles of people and believe that abortion is to grey an issue to be decided on by anyone other than the American people themselves.
